I like dealing with people in general, especially those in the schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders. I'm a psych in the making who likes psychopharmacology and neuroscience, so maybe I can help people manage expectations and medication side effects.

difference between counseling psychology and clinical psychology

...See more Although these two specialties often overlap, clinical psychology provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of more severe psychological symptoms meanwhile a counseling psychologist has a stronger focus on healthy individuals, who have fewer pathological mental problems. While some clinical psychologists choose to specialize in treating people with specific psychological disorders, such as anxiety, schizophrenia or depression, those who study counseling psychology tend to work in centers who promote wellness and academic success. Another difference is their theoretical orientation. Clinical students preferred psychodynamic research, whereas counseling students veer towards cognitive behavior. Finally, counseling psychologists are more often employed within a university, delivering counseling services. A clinical psychologist, on the other hand, more often works in hospitals. But we tend to see clinical and counseling psychologists working in the same settings as well.
Panic attacks with no trigger

...See more There might be this common misconception that panic attacks must always be triggered, but there is such thing as panic attacks for which there is no obvious cue or trigger at the time of occurrence— that is, the attack appears to occur from out of the blue. This happens often in an Anxiety disorder called Panic disorder. Which refers to recurrent and unexpected panic attacks. The determination of whether panic attacks are expected or unexpected is made by the clinician, who makes this judgment based on a combination of careful questioning as to the sequence of events preceding or leading up to the attack and the individuals own judgment of whether or not the attack seemed to occur for no apparent reason.
