...See more 7 Stages of Letting Go1. Hope For better or for worse, you strongly believe and pray that everything will be alright. 2. Wait The most difficult stage. You swing between highs and lows, between hope and despair. 3. Hoping Against Hope It’s already late, but you can’t give up. You wait — with everything you have left. 4. Realization And then it dawns upon you: it’s over. You can’t fully make sense of it, but at least you know. It splits your core, breaks your bones, yet prepares you for what comes next. 5. Acknowledgment You finally admit it’s over. If someone asks about them, you don’t dodge the question. 6. Contemplation The season of “what ifs.” If I had done this… If I had done that… Would it have been different? 7. Acceptance At last, the final stage arrives. You accept it — with all its good and bad parts. You take it as it is, and in that acceptance, there is an unparalleled beauty.
