...See more I was offered a permanent position after I finished my internship. I’m a foreigner in the country where I was offered the position. My boss, let’s call him Mr. Bull, and the HR let’s call him Fish. So Mr. Bull (assuming he was impressed with my work as an intern) offered me a more permanent job. Then I went back to my home country so that they can work on my visa. After a month I followed up with Mr. Bull and he said HR will get hold of me as the paperwork is being processed. About three months later Fish sent me a contract, that was dated one and a half months before he sent me, obviously someone did not do their job, and in this case I’m assuming Fish decided not to send me the contract when he was supposed to as a way of sabotaging me (probably because I had been refusing to go on dates with him). I signed the contract on the actual date and Fish requested me to backdate my signature (as it was required for the visa application blah blah), out of desperation I did. I’ve been unemployed since I left the internship. Along with the contract, Fish requested a bunch of documents that were also needed for the visa application, some of which I had to pay for, some of which I had to travel to a different city for, I brought all the documents and they all just went quiet on me. Today marks six months since the job offer, and some of the documents are time-sensitive and even expiring. This is when I realized that the job is never going to happen because I can’t keep spending money to renew the expired documents (that’s if they even reach out), especially since I’m unemployed. At this point I don’t know if I should blame Fish, Mr Bull, myself, or anyone at all. All I know is unemployment sucks and I don’t wish it even on my worst enemy. NB: Please don’t tell me about suing the organization. I don’t have the energy and Mr Bull, unfortunately, is one of my key references as I search for other opportunities. I just feel betrayed and robbed of my time, emotional and financial investment in this position.
