What I learned this week

...See more Words can't describe how terrible this week as been, though I believe they just may have been used to describe this terrible week. I realize that no one wants to read a post about someone complaining so that is not what this is going to be because you don't deserve to have to sit here and read a post about how awful my week has been. Instead, I am going to share with you what I have learned. I learned the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone. It literally forces you to try new things. There is a saying that in the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take. I believe this is true to a certain extent because you may never know what a chance or opportunity may entail until you step out and take it. I have learned the importance of community. It is difficult to feel like you are going through things alone. I believe we were created to be together. We were created for community. At school, I am in choir. This group of 60-some college students ends each choir rehearsal with an open discussion about whats going on in our lives. You can share if you want but dont have to share. We then hold hands and pray. We dont judge those who share, we support them. It is important to have a community that is supportive and loving. Lastly, I have learned that, although having anxiety and depression suck, having it while having a loving and supportive community makes things much more bearable. This is because I have people who are willing to listen, offer help, and keep me accountable during my times of darkness. I want to leave you with this: Never underestimate the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and having a supportive community of people you can lean on during difficult times.
