...See more hi. i feel so selfish. i was in a car wreck last year and it put me in a coma. ever since then certain scents, foods, and songs put me in this bad headspace - i don't physically/mentally see or picture anything, but i get this super overwhelming feeling, have a difficulty breathing/start hyperventilating, i start to feel like i'm in that time period again, and i just get reminded of that time. like i said, it used to be certain scents, foods, and songs. are these even flashbacks? very recently, someone in my class got in a bad accident and is currently in a comatose like state and i keep seeing people/her friends post about it and with every post it just triggers that same feeling? i feel so guilty for being this way and i don't know what to do. (of course i don't say anything to them, i just kind of sit there and let the ig/snap stories play in the background or that post just stays where it was.) i have no idea why, but i have a spotify playlist full of songs i listened to around that time, so when i get those triggers i go to the playlist and play the songs. i guess this has been my way of coping, but it does so much more harm than good. (at first, it'd calm me down when id start to feel anxious bc i would smell something that was prominent around that time period now it's habitual) when it gets too overwhelming i pause the song, but the thing is in my head the volume is blasting and it i cant get it to stop or pause. it only gets louder and i don't know what to do.

...See more i feel as if my source of trauma is invalid. being in a car wreck which put me into a coma really messed me up. i was never diagnosed with ptsd or anything, but this certainly sucks. i'll get visions and memories and it ruins my whole day. it's scary because i'll be in the middle of driving around the area of where i wrecked, and suddenly i get a memory from my wreck/coma or i'll get a vision of wrecking again. i'm so scared. a year later, i finally remembered what i saw in my coma thanks to a few tiktoks. tldr; i got in a car wreck with myself, and the memories are awful.
