...See more I just got diagnosed with thyroid cancer a month ago, the day before my 21st birthday. the biopsy was awful because of the lack of empathy from the doctors. In the moment, they said treatment is just removal of my thyroid and I was like “oh okay”! So didn’t think too much about it because I felt like that was a simple and easy solution! but, then it settled in. I’m a chemistry major with a minor in biology... what if my cancer has spread. Sure enough, i talked to my endocrinologist and also talked about getting further testing to see if it has spread. I now will need to get the testing done as soon as next week, because I have been putting it off. I don’t have anyone to talk to this about. My friend have gone silent. my bf and i are taking a break and might end up breaking up because i’m sick of the negativity, but most importantly my parents just get extremely sad when i talk about it and i have to end up thinking about their emotions rather than mine. my professors don’t care about my health - both mental or physical and it’s extremely challenging to work when i’m thinking about cancer or death. i just feel so scared and overwhelmed. :(
