Hey there! I'm a listener here on 7cups. I'm a full-blown nerd, I love learning and experiencing new things, but I always make time for exercise. I'm open to chatting about most issues, including sexual, paraphilic and kink-related issues. I've also studied religion in an academic context and I'm open to talk about spirituality if that's an important part of your life. So that's me! Feel free to start a chat, especially when I'm online!

...See more Hi everyone! I wasn't really sure where else to post this. Background My mom has been unintentionally emotionally abusive for most of my life. It caused me to have a meltdown. This lead to me seeing counsellors and psychologists who happen to specialize in ASD. They thought that I was autistic at first. There were a lot of conflicting signs and they couldn't figure it out for a while. It was as if I had been born neurotypical, but somehow had 'developed' characteristics of ASD very early on. Two of the psychologists I saw met with my mom on a regular basis, with one of them meeting with her as part of my session every week. After a couple months, both highly suspected that my mom is autistic. It completely explained why she didn't understand that what she was doing was hurting my feelings, even when myself, my family, and the psychologists all tried to explain it to her; and why I had ASD-related learned behaviours. She can only follow certain extremely specific instructions and even then she would get confused sometimes. The Problem/Tl;dr My mom doesn't know that she's autistic and she's too stubborn / prejudiced to get diagnosed or consider it. She hurts herself and the family emotionally very regularly because she doesn't know better. I already have C-PTSD from her. Any tips? P.S. She tends to try to force/guilt physical affection on my sister and I... it's extremely uncomfortable. Any idea why and how to stop this?
Advice for twin of someone with trich?

...See more Hey everyone! As a twin who has been through emotional abuse from parents, and who has been diagnosed with C-PTSD, I've looked out for any signs of mental illness from the same experiences in my sister for a while now. I always knew she was a little more anxious than the average person, but I'd noticed she'd started pulling her hair out. Thankfully, she recently started seeing a psychologist and was there officially diagnosed with trichotilomania. As her twin, I really want to support her however I can. However, she's got a number of speedbumps ahead of her: 1. We still live with our parents, and they point out her hair a lot as part of the abuse. This has led her to be extremely conscious of her habits which makes her more anxious which makes her pull more of her hair out - it's a cycle. They keep telling her she's balding. Should I stand up to them? Should I tell her it's okay? Or that she's not balding? I don't know. 2. She's very reluctant to open up about much to her psychologist. She told me that she just wants her trichotilomania 'fixed'. Of course I could be wrong, but, it seems to me like it's linked to her anxiety but i don't have any experience or knowledge about it so I don't know what to tell her. If anyone has any suggestions, advice, opinions or ideas, please do let me know! Thanks~!!
