Thoughts about death and how to deal with them

...See more I've been having problems with constant recurring thoughts - I've got mild depression, things are going OK though, I've been on medication for a couple of months, which has helped stabilize me, but my main issue at the moment are thoughts about death. Around Christmas time someone I vaguely knew (a friend of a friend) died, and I wasn't particularly grieving for him or anything, but I started to think about death for a few days. It went away, occasionally came back, and now it feels like it's engrained into my mind. It's also coupled with these thoughts about pointlessness, like for example, "what's the point in doing anything if you're going to die and not remember any of it?" Every time I do something, like watching a movie for example, my mind goes "why watch this if you're going to die one day?" I realise these sound like suicidal thoughts, I haven't actually had any, but I'm really worried that I might start having them at some point. I'm also fully aware that these thoughts are kind of ridiculous, and I never used to feel this way before I was depressed, didn't even think about death at all either.
