Getting evaluated for ADHD on the 10th. Struggling with anger, overstimulation, and the stigma around it all.

...See more Hey everyone, I’m a mom to a 20-month-old, and I have an evaluation scheduled for September 10th. To be honest, I am feeling a massive mix of anxiety, fear, and a lot of anger about it.Growing up, the only people I knew with ADHD were labeled as "weird." Lately, it feels like everyone is constantly bringing it up or using it as an excuse. My neighbor just blurted out that they have ADHD for no apparent reason, and it drives me crazy. I really dislike when people casualize it or overshare it like a trend. Because of that stigma, I’ve deeply resisted wanting this diagnosis. But at the same time, I am drowning. Since becoming a mom, the overwhelm and overstimulation have reached a breaking point. I overthink absolutely everything. I know some of this can just be "normal mom brain," but it feels deeper than that. Here is what my reality looks like:I lose my phone constantly.I was always good at school, but my work life is a different story.I cannot keep a job for longer than 6 months—with the single exception of one job I absolutely loved at a crisis center. used to hoard money as a way to control my environment because everything else felt so chaotic. Among other things. I’m angry that I’m struggling like this, angry that it takes so much effort just to function, and angry at the stigma that makes me feel ashamed to even get checked out.Has anyone else—especially other moms who did well in school—dealt with this specific kind of anger and hesitation before their diagnosis? How did you accept it without feeling like you were becoming a stereotype?

Nervous about ADHD assessment

...See more I am nervous for a ADHD assessment I got this feeling and this curiousity, so I asked my primary doctor for a referral for an ADHD assessment. I am previously diagnosed with bipolar, severe depression, general anxiety, the most recent is CPTSD and I agree with the most recent one. I am very nervous to get miss labeled like I have the other times. Anyone have any tips on what I can look for or where I can do more research ? I would prefer not to get diagnosed with ADHD because of the stigma behind it specifically if I am misdiagnosed. Venting and looking for helpful response
