Sad, dealing with break up

...See more I knew that things were getting difficult between me and my boyfriend, since we has decided to take a break for about two weeks and got back together. To those wondering, our main issue was the fact we only saw each other once a week and it became overwhelming. He has twelve hour shifts as an oil rig, severe family problems, etc. On top of that his grandfather is dying and his sister is doing open heart surgery soon. I feel a mix of emotions. We were together last week again, had a good time on Saturday. Everything was so perfect, then the next day my dad shut me down about getting an extra day with my boyfriend and when I told my boyfriend he grew hopeless. Yesterday he told me to stop trying because he was done with my family, and that even though he loves me a lot and thinks I'm a wonderful person, he needs to figure himself out. I don't blame him. I do wish that things could've gone differently because I love him a lot. But I am grateful that we're remaining friends because we value each other's company and we are ultimately working on ourselves. We're unsure of how things will be in the future - if we'll get back together when the time is right - but I hold onto that hope. I'm currently here to vent and seek support. I turned to Reddit, but I feel that often people there grow hostile when you're expressing yourself, even if it's under the right subreddit. Here I've met compassionate people who genuinely do try to help out and show a lot of empathy. It's a lot more welcoming here and I'm trying to do online therapy to help myself through my stresses.
