About Cuan Mhuire Farnanes Ireland

Established in August 2006, Cuan Mhuire's Farnanes facility in Cork serves as a women-only treatment center for substance use disorders. Founded by Sr. Consilio, who recognized the unique challenges women face in addiction recovery, the center is nestled in a beautifully wooded area that provides a serene healing environment. As Ireland's largest nonprofit addiction treatment provider, Cuan Mhuire offers a distinctive, experience-oriented approach to recovery from substance and gambling addictions. The program operates on the principle of complete abstinence while focusing on rebuilding participants' self-esteem, self-respect, and sense of responsibility. Treatment incorporates life skills development, education, group and family therapy, and individual counseling. Participants follow a structured program lasting 12 weeks for alcohol addiction and 20 weeks for substance misuse or gambling addiction. Cuan Mhuire's commitment to long-term recovery is evident in their comprehensive 2-year aftercare program, which provides ongoing support to both individuals and their families. Since Sr. Consilio founded the organization in 1966, Cuan Mhuire has helped approximately 100,000 people find their path to recovery.
