Higher Ground Drug Rehabilitation Trust, also known as Higher Ground Papa Taumata, offers an intensive 18-week residential program exclusively for New Zealand residents struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. The program focuses on building both social and psychological well-being to support long-term sobriety, integrating 12-Step facilitation within a culturally responsive framework. Residents participate in a structured daily routine that begins with morning walks and nutritious meals, followed by household responsibilities and small group sharing sessions. Afternoons are dedicated to educational groups covering essential recovery topics like relapse prevention, transactional analysis, smoking cessation, and anger management. The center places strong emphasis on community support, encouraging clients to attend both on-site group therapy and off-site AA and NA meetings. Higher Ground features a comprehensive Kaupapa Whānau Oranga program grounded in spiritual focus (Wairua) and recovery family principles, available to residents of all ethnicities.
