House of Freedom was established in Puerto Rico on May 1, 1991, by Pastor Esteban Morales, a former medical technologist who found recovery through faith after struggling with drug addiction. Today, this Christian-based treatment center provides comprehensive addiction recovery services through a full continuum of care including medical and non-medical detox, residential programs ranging from 30 days to 15 months, and outpatient services. Clients participate in evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention, complemented by group sessions, educational development, and professional growth opportunities. Recreational therapy forms a cornerstone of their approach, helping clients build positive associations through activities including sauna sessions, softball, fitness training, music classes, boat excursions, equine therapy, and community outings.
