...See more My days been full of the kind of pressure that comes from where I live the weight of family expectations, religion, reputation, and social norms. I’m 23, queer, and still living with my family in a society where I can’t safely be myself. That alone has shaped every part of my life. I’ve run out of energy trying to be the version of myself my family would love and respect. I want to be loved by my mom the way she loves my sisters without judgment, without suspicion, without that heavy look in her eyes. I want to be trusted. I want to be taken seriously. I’ve grown, I’ve changed, and I’m not a child or a mess… but I still feel like no matter what I do, I’m never enough. And it’s killing something soft inside me. I don’t want to keep living in fear of being misunderstood. I want to figure out how to exist in my truth without losing everyone and everything. I’m not sure how to do that, but I know I need help. I’m tired. And I just need a space that’s safe where I don’t have to explain everything about my culture before I’m allowed to feel things.
