Oh Hi!

I'm Callum, or Cal. I spend most of my days listening to Britney Spears, Will.i.am, and Shakira.  I kinda just do my own thing most of the time, living my life while it lasts, you know? Its not like its going to last forever, so make the most of it I guess. Life has delt me shitty cards, but I take those cards, and I fucking burn them. Stay strong, and stay safe. <3

As you get to know me, you'll know I struggle with quite a few chronic illnesses. I am going to list them below and explain a bit about them and how it affects my life

Type one diabetes: When people hear the word "diabetes" they just think "Oh, he ate too much sugar". And I just sob. Type one diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar, people! I'd have to say the hardest part of type one diabetes is the carb counting and dosage of insulin... with the invention of automated insulin delivery systems and continuous glucose monitors, management of my disease has become so much easier, but its still rough.

Epilepsy: I used to be so depressed about having epilepsy. When I was first diagnosed, all I could ever think is that I would never be able to drive, and driving has always been something I looked forward to, as I live in a big beautiful city and I'd love to drive around all the districts and view the city lights, well, I was able to drive at some point! (Not anymore haha) Basically in the state I live in, if you go twelve months without a seizure with diagnosed epilepsy, you can get your license. And I got to that twelve month point and got my license! I loved driving, but then I got into a car accident.... IT WASN'T MY FAULT OKAY xD

Asthma: Asthma is one of the harder challenges I face, especially as a former athlete. I was a competitive runner and loved running track and cross country. It made me feel so alive and free, breathing in that crisp cool night air as I'd go on runs. My asthma isn't as bad as it used to be, but there are times where it quite literally has me turning blue... thank god for steroids xD.

Herniated disk: I mentioned a car accident earlier when I was talking about my epilepsy. I was T-boned by a drunk driver coming home from work one night. I was working as a CNA at the time and I work my ass off haha. It left me with a herniated disk in my spine. I did have surgery to repair it but it hasn't really helped. I get lots of pain and numbness in my back and legs, and it hurts to walk most days, so I kind of just vibe in a wheelchair. <3

Gastroparesis: I honestly don't really know why I developed gastroparesis. Some doctors have told me it was because of my diabetes, others told me it was because of the car accident. I'm not sure, and I don't really care. Gastroparesis has taken away my ability to digest most foods, and as a result, I am fed enterally, or through a jejunostomy tube. I miss being able to eat things normally, but hey, its a fact of life.

Quotes to look back to:

"And then they gave me steroids and I lived happily ever after! <3 - me after I was given steroids after being diagnosed with asthma

"You're supposed to be mitigating psychiatric crisis, not creating them!" -Sharon Goodwin to Daniel Charles

AKA THE MOST SLAY PSYCHIATRIST

Thank you. :)
