...See more Hi all, I joined 7cups to seek help for depression and panic episodes. The past month has been really difficult--I became acutely aware of certain unhealthy cycles. (Honestly, the past 4 years have been emotionally and physically devastating). I realized the tremendous negative effect alcohol has on my mental health and am 9 days sober. I hope to come here to maintain my sobriety. My reasons for getting and staying free from alcohol: 1) I want to change and stop avoiding negative emotions. (I'm ready to process pain, grief, shame and to confront my anxiety.) 2) Physical health 3) Clarity 4) I want to renew joy and hope Much love, Ann

...See more Hello, I'm new here. I've had anxiety/depression since childhood and had many years of positive management of symptoms/feelings in my 20's and 30's. I'm in my forties now and questioning my resilience. I began having panic attacks a couple of years ago and now I struggle daily, sometimes mildly and sometimes severely. I'm just looking to regain my strength--gratitude, appreciation and awe have always worked in the past but those tools are slipping. Doing the work of coming to terms with difficult things and dealing with mental/physical exhaustion has been challenging. I feel defeated, desperate and the weight of feeling incapable while I am responsible for the care of my loved ones is devastating. I feel a lot of shame.
