When they say "you survived", I nod.

A million thoughts cross my mind, but I don't have words to express it, it's carved so deep that I just smile and nod.

I look around and look within for any signs of life or remnants of who I had been.

The person I used to be is gone, my heart was destroyed in so many ways beyond belief, that I survived only physically, unfortunately.

Coping mechanism

...See more The way I cope with depression, anxiety, grief, longing, ptsd, trauma is by keeping myself busy. If I'm home I need to always do something otherwise I start thinking and feeling all the stuff. So I just go clean. Clean the windows, vacuum the carpets, mop the floors, wash.. Do the dishes, do the clothes, wash the bathrooms, anything, all while listening to my music on full blast on my pods. There's always something. Sometimes I just get exhausted, but I prefer that than having time to think and feel. At work I do a lot of extra hours, I mean a lot lot and go way beyond my responsibilities. When I go shopping for groceries I try to take as long as I can so I can change my routine a bit and refrain from always cleaning. I don't have OCD I'm just a very clean person and do that to occupy my mind and body,as my copying mechanism is to be so busy I don't have time to think. I also volunteer twice a week in a DV charity where I can just spend all day there. There are just days that are better than others and even tho I may have cleaned the whole house, went shopping, worked 14hours or whatever if I'm not exhausted I just cant fall asleep or if I do, I sleep like two or three hours and that's it. Whats your copying mechanisms?

...See more It was a Thursday just like any other. Lilys favorite tea had been made by her mother. As Lily slopped the tea and heard the mother telling stories this was disrupted by a knocking door. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!! Lilly opened the door and was shricked and surprised at a charming looking monster at least three times her size. Sniffing the air thru a desarming large smile that said "ahh it smells spaghetti, can i come in?" To the outside world it appeared friendly enough, "you alright mate?" "wanna go to the pub later?". But once behind closed doors it was moody and rough. They tiptoed nervously after the big hairy slob came inside, to find the shocking monster went to eat all the spaghetti shoving it up his throat, burping and messing everything, " Discusting" he said banging it's fist on the table and munching the plate at mom's head, but only just missed. As the plate shattered the mom said" okay Lilly go get ready for bed now". Lilly backed out the room, praying he wouldn't react. Experiences had taught her to avoid eye contact and stay silent. Climbing the stairs she looked back once more seeing thru a gap in the door the monster talk violently at the mother "what's with the make up you w*ore", "and that dress?!" "you know I despise it!, who are you trying to impress you b*tch?!" The monster saw the moms phone receiving a message, and after the monster smashed her phone we all know what happens next. The monsters fists tighned, his muscles widened, he hauled over mommy, who's now really frightened. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!! KNOCK KNOCK!!! Shhhhhhh said the mom to Lily. Daddys home. Shhh stay in bed okay. Mom could hear daddy talk through the door with a neighbour "hahahaha I'll catch you later mate!". Once mommy opened the door, the moody bad monster came in. Will you answer that door???

Trauma comes in many forms

...See more Trauma can come from so many places — childhood, relationships, loss, abuse, accidents — and its impact can linger in ways others might not see. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety, trust issues, numbness, anger, or even physical symptoms. And often, it makes us feel broken or “too much.” But here's the truth: you're not broken. You're a survivor. Healing from trauma is messy. It’s not linear. Some days it feels like progress, other days like you’re back at square one — and that’s okay. Every step you take to understand your pain, set boundaries, or even just survive the day, is healing. You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t need to explain your trauma to be worthy of compassion. You’re allowed to take up space, to feel, to rest, to be. If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. There’s no shame in needing help, whether through therapy, support groups, or simply being here and talking with others who get it. Let this be a reminder: your story matters, your feelings are valid, and healing is possible. Sending care to anyone who needs it today

...See more ChatGPT Log in You said: Make a post for an online community about depression ChatGPT said: Sure, here's a thoughtful and supportive post you can use or adapt for an online community about depression: Title: You're Not Alone — Let's Talk About Depression Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to say something that I think a lot of us need to hear: You're not alone. Depression can be incredibly isolating. It makes even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming, distorts our thoughts, and convinces us that things will never get better. But the truth is, many of us are fighting similar battles — quietly, every day. Whether you're struggling to get out of bed, feeling like you're not enough, or just tired of pretending to be okay — your pain is valid. And you're not weak for feeling this way. Please know that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not failure. Whether it's a therapist, a support group, a trusted friend, or even this community — talking about it can make a huge difference. If today is hard, that's okay. Take it one moment at a time. Celebrate the small victories. Drink some water. Breathe. You're still here, and that matters. Feel free to share how you're feeling, what’s helping you cope, or just say hi. This space is for you. We’re in this together.
