Hello everyone, I'm Toast! Welcome to 7 Cups and my profile :) I try my best to contribute positively to the community. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not have the time to take up regular member chats. I do have some occasional times that I might be able to, but my status will be green at that time and I only take one-off chats so if you are looking for long-term support, please reach out to another listener. I also only do 60-minute-long chats. But otherwise, my other life commitments restrict me from responding in a timely manner. Please look at my profile for topics I am and I am not comfortable with.

...See more Hello everyone and a very happy birthday to this incredible community we are all a part of. 10 years of compassion, community service, and empathic listening is incredible. Our core values and mission have brought us this far. This post is dedicated to high expectations and high warmth. We define this value by delivering quality work supported through learning, safety, and candor. So what is high warmth? It means to provide each other with a space that allows them to take risks and then grow through whatever they learn from taking that risk. It means to be positive about whatever step that is being taken and also to deal with the consequences in an encouraging and supportive manner. What are high expectations? We strive to give help when asked, because we understand that we are all collectively responsible for the success of our mission. We do not try to avoid problems or explain them away. We face them directly and we work to overcome them. Our accountability comes from the recognition of the fact that if we do not deliver, more people in need will be left without help taking us away from our mission. When you support someone successfully, you feel a sense of gratification. Over the years that I have been here, I have realized that the success of others has been like a badge of honor for myself as a listener, leader, and as a member of the community. I have learnt quickly that ‘you get what you give.’ So to be a warm demander is an important accomplishment in addition to our empathy, responsiveness, and patience. Being a warm demander, you are showing personal regard, encouraging productive struggle, and creating a safe thriving environment. A part of the Leadership Development Program focuses on high expectations and high warmth being a foundational leadership principle. A question that our trainees are asked is “What do you think happens if you, a 7 Cups leader, have an imbalance of expectations and warmth?” And the general theme of the answers given is everything in balance. Balancing high expectations with high warmth means you are giving the person in front of you a chance to learn and grow safely. And in a way, you are convincing them of their own brilliance. People will always remember how you made them feel, and to encourage them is to give them courage. I will end this with a quote and a question. With our academy growing quickly everyday, we require a strong team of mentors to run the programs and make it a smooth sailing ship for our trainees. At the academy, we are always looking for help so if you would like to contribute to our programs, please use this post as a guide to apply to become a mentor. Please review each program and what each program requirements are to become a mentor. You may apply for one at a time, once you've passed 2 months in your role, you can apply for another program. You can only be part of two programs. Overall requirements: - Verified Listener Badge [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerLearningJourney_149/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/NewAdditionalCriteriaToBecomeVerifiedListenerGoingLive_230276/] - Not be a trainee in the program you are applying for. You can graduate and then apply! - No serious behavior reports in the past 3 months - Those in a leadership role already will be given preference! _______________________________________________________________________________ 1. Quality Listening Program - 100+ 1-1 chats - Been a listener for at least 3 months - Priority will be given to QLP Graduates 2. Leadership Development Program - Been a listener for at least 3 months - It is preferred that you are an ATL but not needed - Able to work on and communicate with a team - Able to commit at least 3 hours a week - Priority will be given to LDP Graduates 3. Internship Program - 3+ months as a listener - 150+ chats with member/guests - Sparkler and Tiny Chat badges (obtained by completing 20 member and 20 listener group chats) - Should be able to maintain a response time of within 3 days unless on informed break. - Should be able to give the track at least 2 months after acceptance before taking any major breaks. - Priority will be given to Internship Program Graduates 4. Content Development and Marketing Program - Questions in the application form - 3+ months as a listener - Priority will be given to CDM Program Graduates Some notes to keep in mind: - This role is available to both teens and adults. ATLs are preferred as it makes our communication process easy. - We bring on mentors as per our need in a specific program. So, it's possible that QLP might need a mentor but the other programs don't. - The academy reserves the right to remove any mentor on any basis, well within reason. It can be based on inactivity, unprofessionalism, etc. - Each role entails a month-long trial that follows the training. You will be trained initially and then put on a trial so both you and the team can create an understanding of each others' work style. - Please be mindful of how much time you can dedicate to the programs. All of these programs require consistent weekly involvement. If you are occupied with other roles or anything else, you might not have the time for these roles. General expectations from all the roles: - Always be open to feedback, be it positive or constructive. We strive on the feedback we are given and will take every opportunity we can to become better. - The roles will require consistent involvement - Quick learner and a team player - Must be comfortable leading group AMAs for the programs - Be a pro-active guide to all our trainees so they can finish the program smoothly - Be flexible and ready to adapt to different needs that you might come around to face - Deliver a good response time to trainees.
