I need to ask about taking drugs for depression and anxiety

...See more Hi , my name is Ahmed and I am 28 years old and I am a mechanical engineer with a master degree . for the last year I was passing through a very hard time of not finding a job and break up with my girl friend and now I feel I am not ok . some friends adviced me to consult a doctor and I did that but the doctor asked me to take so many drugs for depression and anxiety .I read about that drugs which try to adjust the Serotonin level in the brain and I read it has some bad side effect . so my questions here is anybody here went through hard times and get better with drugs or in another words can I get better by doing meditation ,taking online therapy ,doing exercise and changing my daily routine . thanks for the help
