Broke up but trying to be friends

...See more My ex and I just broke up after almost 6 months. Due to the pandemic our relationship had progressed quickly. Possibly too quickly. We broke up on a positive not with both of us acknowledging that there we may have moved too fast and due to each of our own individual issues decided we may not have been ready to be with each other romantically. I understand where my partner was coming from and I agree, but I still do not completely understand how if they know what some of the issues were and are going to work on themselves why they couldn’t do that while we were together. Anyways, we both agreed that we are still important people to each other and want to try to be friends. But neither of us have ever been friends with our exes before. Does anyone have any tips on how to get over someone while still trying to support them? Any types of boundaries or feelings I should be wary of? I know they said they do care about me and want the best for me, but I also recognize this is still a break up and it still hurt when they removed traces of me (pictures of me and us) from their social media
