Overstimulated Rage

...See more Hi there.  I need some help. I've been married for 16 years and my husband is both on the spectrum and ADHD. He has come a long way over the years, but he really struggles with his anger when he is overstimulated. He turns into a different person. Things sometimes get broken. He will scream, say horrible things to me, and if I ask him to please lower his voice, he will scream even louder. When these happen, it doesn't matter whether we are in public or private. I've learned that if I engage in any way, it just adds fuel to the fire.  He will then, once he settles down (sometimes hours, sometimes a couple of days), then he acts like nothint happened, and I'm left hurt, confused, and drained.  Does anyone else have a similar situation? Any helpful advice? Is this normal (it doesn't feel normal)?  Please help. Thank you.
