Overstimulated Rage
Hi there.
I need some help. I've been married for 16 years and my husband is both on the spectrum and ADHD. He has come a long way over the years, but he really struggles with his anger when he is overstimulated. He turns into a different person. Things sometimes get broken. He will scream, say horrible things to me, and if I ask him to please lower his voice, he will scream even louder. When these happen, it doesn't matter whether we are in public or private. I've learned that if I engage in any way, it just adds fuel to the fire.
He will then, once he settles down (sometimes hours, sometimes a couple of days), then he acts like nothint happened, and I'm left hurt, confused, and drained.
Does anyone else have a similar situation? Any helpful advice? Is this normal (it doesn't feel normal)?
Please help. Thank you.

I can see how exhausting this must be for both of you 💚
It's important in these moments for both of you to just go into opposite rooms.
And for him to learn different techniques that allows him to process anger when he's overstimulated.
Do that he can process but also so that you are not adversely affected.
And I hope you know, it's nothing to do with you at all 💚
