...See more Hey, so—I wanted to ask questions about careers and the near future; I've been fearing about it for the longest time. I'm 16, and I want to learn more about IT/ cybersecurity or psychology, but I don't know where to start. For psychology, I've downloaded a few PDFs/books onto my phone (haven't finished them yet, but Disorders of the Self, Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, etc.), watched a couple of videos and documentaries, and that's about it. I'm really intrigued by disorders, improving one's mental health, how the mind works, and basically therapy work. I hate how certain disorders out there are being demonized, and I deeply care about people in general. Regardless of background. Err.. for technology, I installed Ubuntu onto my laptop once, then switched to openSUSE, all without having any issues or a single idea what I was doing. (Well, I still have issues with it.. rebooting error). I know the basics so far and can probably name 2 or 3 terminal commands. I scored 788 on my first CompTIA test a year ago. I've already forgotten a lot since then. I blame my current living situation and moving back and forth nonstop. :( I hate it. I feel like I haven't learned much in either area. I don't even know the right terminology to use. I crave to know more, but preferably explained in layman's terms because I have a slight learning disability. That being said, if you know anything about either field, teach me if you can. I don't know anybody in my family who's knowledgeable on either so.. I'm asking here. :) Thank you, and you're awesome!! TLDR: I need advice on getting into IT or psychology. I don't know where to begin. Any advice will do

Am I evil??

...See more Hi, for context, my parents and I live in a hotel. My mother is the only one working, and my dad occasionally leaves in the morning to work on either cars or moving jobs. He arrives home by 3-4. Last night at 4, my parents were talking to each other, and they were a little loud. I kindly said, "Guys, I need sleep," because I didn't know how else I could ask, and then my father just shouted at me out of nowhere, calling me a *** and thinking that I was basically asking him to shut up, but I wasn't. That was never my intention. Ever. I should've recorded it, but he was mad at me and used all of this profanity. I can't ask him anything without crying afterwards or be listened to just because they're an adult and I'm the main one not listening to THEM. While I know that, your words are hurting me and have been for years. I don't understand what I've ever done to you. When just trying to have a conversation, I try my absolute hardest to speak to them in a calm and non-threatening way, but I'm still met with this sudden aggression and insults as if I'm merely a guest and not their loving daughter. I don't understand. Am I really evil? Or am I so overly sensitive?? Please, any advice will work. I hardly have any friends, and talking on here is my only hope. Make me understand. I'm literally back to tearing up as of typing this. If you seen something similar on reddit, it's a good chance that it was me. Sorry.

I'm close to giving up on making friends.

...See more Hey, newbie and longtime lurker. I finally decided to post here. I'm at a point right now where I think I'm better off staying alone. I have no friends at all except for online ones who rarely care about my presence, not surprising in the slightest. I've tried making friends in the past, but I can't do it for some reason. I'm not sure if it's because I'm picky or if I'm just a complicated person to deal with. I've been alone for a very long time, only finding joy in listening to bands that I like and drawing. I do go outside sometimes, but there's rarely anything fun that I can do. Other than reading, I guess. I think the best way that describes my personality is "I don't know." I don't know if I'm really me anymore. Apologies.
