What do I like? Let's see... Star Wars. Pokemon. Both? Both. Talk to me to understand that combo, if you like. Minecraft and Overwatch. Writing stories. D&D, sometimes. Not so much talking about myself, but I'll get there. I need to, or I won't grow to where I think God wants me to be.

...See more As a writer, I've never really gotten in to poetry - relying on prose more than anything else, and nearly always tending towards the literal. Still, there's something about writing that really helps me process the darkness that surrounds my head on a regular basis. Someday I'll be able to open up with the prose I'm used to, and maybe even translate the poem, but there's so much distance between there and here. So here's a short freeform attempt of mine to wax poetic about the weighted mess I carry. Waves Silent oceans splash around me Farther than my eyes can see. There's a light over the horizon Drowned out by this tide I'm on. Waves of darkness swallow the Light in me, leaving me to wonder and wander further astray. No end in sight, Just that dim light and my thoughts, a pleasant siren's song. But the thoughts steer me wrong and the light fades to gray As I wander further and further away.

...See more New face, similar story, I suppose. I spend just about all my time online between work, fun "work", and my "social" life so coming here made sense. I'm not great at this whole opening up about my emotions thing so it's a step outside my comfort zone. I definitely need it. One thing that's helped me deal is finding a creative outlet for the mess I carry around - writing a story to translate my experiences to something that actually makes a little bit of sense to everyone else. It's worked for me so far, but it's a far cry from talking about it with real people, which up until I joined here was just my family and two of my absolute closest friends. I'm a huge nerd so things like Pokemon, Overwatch, and Minecraft all fall under my interests. That side of things will get me talking more often than not, so if you want to break the ice that's the best way to do it.
