Waves
As a writer, I've never really gotten in to poetry - relying on prose more than anything else, and nearly always tending towards the literal. Still, there's something about writing that really helps me process the darkness that surrounds my head on a regular basis. Someday I'll be able to open up with the prose I'm used to, and maybe even translate the poem, but there's so much distance between there and here. So here's a short freeform attempt of mine to wax poetic about the weighted mess I carry.
Waves
Silent oceans splash around me
Farther than my eyes can see.
There's a light over the horizon
Drowned out by this tide I'm on.
Waves of darkness swallow the
Light in me, leaving me to wonder
and wander further astray.
No end in sight,
Just that dim light
and my thoughts, a pleasant siren's song.
But the thoughts steer me wrong
and the light fades to gray
As I wander further
and further away.
