Bio

Hi guys!
Welcome to 7cups.
This is a space I frequented as a teen. This, in fact, is an account I used back then too, as a listener. At the time I was dealing with a range of issues, from bullying and trauma, to depression and anxiety. I was suicidal. I thought things would never get better. I thought I was broken inside.

I'm older now. I'm well-adjusted. I'm mostly happy. I have healthy relationships. I have a stable life. I've not been close to depressed in the last four years.

If you're reading this and thinking this will never be you, once upon a time, I also thought it would never be me.

But it is.

I return to this account sometimes. Message me if you need. If this bio is anything to go by, I'll be honest with you, if nothing else.

Cringe username and some oddly insightful forum posts about depression is all the markers I have of being fourteen and sad. I'll keep them here as a tribute to my past.

Anyway. I read a lot. I also write. I'm a musician. Other hobbies include travelling and cooking. And I love cats and dogs. If you like any of these things, we could have a fun conversation.

...See more I've spent the past one hour crying because I'm too overwhelmed with emotions. My best friend's rapist just went to jail, because she wasn't the only girl. She lives across the globe. I wish I could be there for her right now. I just want the 7cups community to start a positivity movement for CS, to let her know that we are proud of her bravery. She's been through a lot and is having a very tough time right now, and I just want to do this for her. Can we make this into a community-wide movement, writing positive messages for this beautiful soul?

How To Deal With Counselors

...See more As a listener, time and again people express negative emotions about seeing a counselor or going for therapy. Sometimes, it makes them think it means that there is something 'wrong' with them, or that they are 'damaged.' Sometimes, they don't understand how to open up to a stranger. Our society already has so many stigmas around mental illnesses. The level of ignorance is so high that it is either always dehumanized or romanticized, and I can't even choose which is worse. This needs to be talked about. First of all, we need to learn to remember that a psychologist is just a doctor. Nothing more than a doctor. Nothing less than a doctor. Now equate this to a physical disease. If you go and see a doctor for a physical ailment, does that make you 'damaged'? No! Maybe you're ill. Maybe you have a fever. Maybe you have an injury. You have a problem. You deserve a solution. You are not damaged if you see a counselor. Secondly, sometimes people wonder if the counselor actually cares about them, and this prevents them from opening up. Once again, equate it to seeing a doctor for a physical ailment. Would you wonder if the doctor actually cares about you if you were seeing him to treat a fever? No! Because that is his profession. He is supposed to help you. Yes, I get it. Talking about a headache and talking about a traumatic situation are two very different things. But in a relationship between and counselor and a patient, we fail to realize that the patient actually has the power. Did you know a counselor has to LEGALLY, I repeat- *LEGALLY* keep anything that you tell him, confidential? (Unless you express a desire to commit suicide or a homicide.) And if he is unable to help you, it is his prestige, his job at stake. If he isn't able to help you, it is on him, not on you. I used to find it very difficult to talk about my problems to counselors. So what I do is, I write. I write whatever I have to say. It's less overwhelming, I can actually frame what I want to say, and it works. Lastly, has a therapist ever said something rude to you? Something that made you feel like you don't deserve to be helped, because the people who can help you choose not to? I want you to realize right now, that it is on them. Not on you. They're bad at their job. So, see another doctor. Have no shame in asking for help. You deserve help. You deserve happiness. xx

How To Deal With Schoolwork When You're Depressed
Depression Support / by PizzaLover007

...See more When I initially started suffering from depression, I had no idea how to cope. I felt too demotivated to do anything, my work kept pilling on, my grades kept dropping and I just didn't want to deal with anything. The things that I had enjoyed the most suddenly were uninteresting to me. Now, after suffering from depression for two years, this year, I have five sets of very important exams, a lot of work, internals, projects, deadlines, and I just can't afford to slack. So I figured out a few ways to deal with my work. Feel free to add on to this thread with suggestions, ideas and questions of your own. :) 1. Make a list This really works for me for some reason. I make a list of all the work that I have to, and write the deadlines alongside. Then, whenever I complete a single thing, I take the pleasure of slashing it out. Seeing a whole page with slashed out items is actually kinda motivating, because it just feel like I've accomplished SOMETHING.   2. If your teachers know about your depression, talk to them about this. Talk to them about not being able to complete your work in time sometimes. Asking for leniency beforehand works much better than informing them after the deadline about how you weren't able to complete the work, and they will actually appreciate you a lot more.   3. There are good depression periods and bad depression periods. So if you know you will certainly not be able to work in the bad periods, try to manage your work in a way that you get most of it done in the good period.   4. Don't blame yourself if you're having a hard time. Remember that you're trying your best. Don't compare yourself to others, because you are dealing with a lot. If you miss a few deadlines, it's okay. It happens to all of us.   5. Reward yourself. Set some work for yourself, and reward yourself when you get it done. Whether the reward consists of doing something that you like (for me, it's going for a walk and playing with all the dogs in my neighborhood), or if you're too lethargic to do something like that, just treat yourself to pizza. Or chocolate. Or an emergency solo dance party. Or, if nothing comes to your mind, just let the feeling of having completed something, sink in. Because I know how difficult it is sometimes, and if you complete something that you set aside for yourself, it is something you should be very, very proud of.   Hope this helps. :)

...See more Confused teenagers with crazy hormones, struggling to grasp the complexity of a physical relationship. At least, that was how I was. He was a year older, and seemed a lot less confused. He knew what he wanted. Me. For the rest of our lives. And my body. Because he found it beautiful. "Stop." I said. Third base was a total no-no. In the heat of the moment, he didn't want to. He ignored me. "Stop." I said again. "Just relax." It went on. Me asking him to stop. Him, not stopping. I was too scared to push him off. Not like that would have stopped him either. I broke up, and even after suffering for depression for two years, what he did made me feel more disgusted than anything else. I chopped off my long hair, because he found it beautiful. It made me feel more disgusted. He still knows what he wants. Me. My body. Was this sexual assault?

Where do i even begin lol? This crazy whaman has helped me more than any listener on 7 cups ever have. She's professional yet not robotic. She has the capability to make anyone go from crying to laughing in 2 seconds. She'll make you feel like you're not alone, that she understands you. She's a rare specie, one of her kind and should be protected at all costs. Thanks for helping me realize what the actual problem was and giving me the confidence to do what needs to be done. Love ya
