Hi there! Thanks for stopping by to read my profile. My name is John, and I really enjoy helping others feel better about themselves and their life situations. Regarding my counseling background, I have some graduate school under my belt in existential psychology. I also volunteered at the Recovery Cafe (recoverycafe.org) where I simply offered my presence to those who were in recovery for issues of mental illness, substance abuse, and homelessness. I enjoy listening, not so much giving advice, but helping others to help themselves via genuine and compassionate dialog and feedback.

Just because I am a listener, does not mean I live a struggle-free life. I have experienced depression, anxiety, ADD, and an eating disorder throughout much of my life, so my knowledge of such issues is firsthand. Of course I'm not suggesting I could ever possibly "know" how you feel, but I believe these experiences have helped me to more authentically empathize with those who struggle similarly.
