The Power of "Presence"

...See more When I began applying the methods described in the book "Inner Development Goals" (IDG), I realized that people striving to increase their productivity and effectiveness often forget about themselves: their feelings, their mental health, their presence in the real world. That's why I consider IDG the most useful model. It was the first model whose values are based on mindfulness. When we lack mindfulness, we operate on autopilot. We rely on old biases, make hasty decisions, and lose sight of our inner compass, which ultimately leaves us unhappy and broken. True growth requires more than just speed; it demands a deep, conscious connection to our values and a commitment to nurturing our mental well-being to ensure long-term, sustainable personal success. When I began reflecting on this, I began to focus more on the present, on my feelings. I stopped focusing on external indicators of success and the to-do list I completed this week. I also began practicing meditation and grounding, as described in the book. After just a week, I noticed my anxiety had decreased, I was sleeping better, my productivity had increased, and I was enjoying my daily tasks more. This shift in perspective has allowed me to approach my work with renewed clarity and a much calmer heart, proving that internal balance is the ultimate key to professional excellence. So, now I want to ask the community: what daily practice have you implemented to strengthen your connection with your Inner Compass?

If you choose this path, accept the inconveniences that come with it

...See more The most interesting and unexpected phrase I discovered while taking the Inner Developmental Goals Course was "If you choose the path, accept the inconveniences that come with it" (the phrase is imprecise, in my own words, but it conveys the intended meaning). It had a profound impact on me and made me think about many things. Indeed, when athletes choose to train, they also choose to injure themselves. Scientists, choosing to dedicate their lives to their projects, understand that they will have to work many nights instead of sleeping. I think the desire to succeed and the unwillingness to tolerate the inconveniences that come with it were my biggest problem. I wanted to get good grades at university, but I didn't give up nightclubs, which led to me sleeping in in the morning and skipping lectures, after which I blamed myself for laziness and lack of willpower. After taking the Inner Developmental Goals Course, I thought a lot and talked about this with my friends. It turns out this is a fairly common feeling. We've come to the conclusion that the biggest problem in achieving a goal is overestimating your own resources. We're all human, we only have 24 hours in a day; we need to eat, sleep, and rest. And if we've set a goal, we also need to understand how much time and effort it will take, and what other goals and activities we'll have to give up. What do you think about this? Have you ever regretted having to give up others, perhaps sacrificing other areas of your life, for the sake of one goal?
