Complicated Relationships
Relationship Stress / by anonyAcres8568

...See more I had an online friend for about 6 months that meant the world to me. We used to play video games and talk on the phone everyday. Life got more complicated though the more they went through. They made some mistakes and bad decisions due to their mental health. It ultimately caused them to write me a goodbye message and stop talking. I have accepted the decisions they have made and have let them go. New years comes along and they get removed from a group by one of my other friends. Purely a decision made completely by my other friend. They reached out to me and blamed me for the decision. I haven’t talked to either party in nearly two months. I ended up being a therapist between the two and my one friend who meant the world to me expressed how lonely they were. I asked what they were up to lately and they said after I stopped talking (after their goodbye message) it caused them to work on themselves. But all the changes were materialistic, new car, new house etc. This person has a lot to work on mentally and they seem to only want my company so they don’t have to play video games alone. Why did they start a conversation blaming me for everything if they were just lonely? To me that isn’t a great start into talking to someone again.

Not My Fault?

...See more I have a group of gaming friends I regularly game with. In the past few days I’ve noticed my friends have stopped inviting and have been ignoring/glazing over my messages. I found out that one of those friends was really mean to a friend I talk to everyday. And by association I guess they don’t want to talk to me either. All of this happened while I was working so I have no idea what happened. It’s just based on one friends account of the event. I really like this group of people should I keep trying or give up and go back to gaming alone?

Will This Happen Again?

...See more Why do people say they love someone that they don’t? Or stay in relationships where they no longer have feelings for the person? I’m curious just because this has been a recurring theme in my past relationships. I like people who are honest and let me know what they feel, rather than leading me on. Is it more likely for this person to do it to others after they break off a relationship with me. Or do they eventually grow out of that cycle?

Toxic Relationship My Friend Is In

...See more To start, this is a situation I’ve never been in before so I’m quite confused and not sure what to do. I have a gaming friend that I’ve been consistently playing with for a few months. He has a girlfriend and lives far away. If we game with a group everything is fine but alone things are different. He hasn’t been the issue, his girlfriend is. She starts arguments, tells him to stop gaming, and name calls me whenever we play together. He’s been helping me learn how to edit videos and even that isn’t ok with her. Today he asked me when she wasn’t in the room what I think of manipulation. He wouldn’t give me any context and since I’ve been manipulated before I just told him it’s a form of control. Diminishing someone’s feelings to make them feel insignificant is probably what I come across the most. He was very quiet and not his usual self at all. He’s even told me before that she’s talked to guys but has a problem when he talks to girls. I’ve been in his situation before and understand how he feels and how hard it is to break out of that relationship. It’s so hard to see someone you care about suffer. I’m trying to practice patience with it because I know most people don’t really want to listen to relationship advice. Should I just keep trying to ignore what she does to him or should I say something?

FWB (Casual Relationship takes a turn)
Relationship Stress / by anonyAcres8568

...See more Several months ago I started casually dating. I had never tried it before so I was nervous. Thankfully I only had to talk to a few people before I met my current friend with benefits. We have been fwb for a while and I still enjoying hanging out with them. Our communication when talking about the terms of the relationship has gone well. We established early on we could go on dates with other people. But they are the only person I’ve been consistently seeing. Recently, I’ve noticed their behavior has changed. We are about to talk about it soon because last night they asked if I want to go out. Usually they say hang out so I’m assuming they mean a relationship. But I have high expectations for my next relationship. I spent almost four years in a highly committed relationship. Just to see it end because I wasn’t enough for them, since they wanted to date other people. So for my next relationship I want the person to be as committed as I am. I don’t want to waste another couple years, if I’m going to date someone it will be with the intention of marriage. I also am struggling on figuring out the next steps in my life. I was originally supposed to move to a different state with my friends and one of them happens to be my last ex. We have a very intertwined friend group. But I’m getting almost no communication from them now almost two months prior to the move. I’m very stuck on which direction to go. I figured I can’t be in a relationship if I’m in an in between spot because that doesn’t seem fair. And it doesn’t seem fair to keep being fwb if the other person caught feelings when I’m not sure I guess. I think I would only know how I feel if I knew where I was going. I really don’t know what to do….
