...See more I'm a newlywed and I love my husband very much. I also have severe anxiety and depression. It's really hard to not feel like a total burden on Husband in general, and I know that he finds it really hard that I'm unwell. A lot of the time, I feel like I should just snap out of it and be happy with the positive things in my life. As a person, I'm naturally quite empathetic and so I know that when I'm in a dark space, he suffers for it, and I hate it. But at the same time, I kind of just want to say "this is my problem, not yours" - a lot of the time I feel like I have to support him when he's upset that I'm depressed. And I sit there thinking "I'm the one with depression, can't you just be there for me?" and for the most part, he is. Then at times I just feel nothing toward him and that's really scary. Because I love this man, I really do, and he is fantastic and my best friend and marrying him was the best decision I ever made. But with the depression, I feel really numb a lot of the time. And I second-guess myself - I only got married a few months ago but I sometimes forget it even happened and it's just... blah. Husband is also really creative and wants to do a bunch of creative projects and wants me to support him but honestly it's a struggle just getting out of bed in the morning. I have a chronic pain condition to manage as well, there are changes afoot at work and I feel like I'm spending all my time trying to be a semi-decent wife when all I want to do is curl up and cry most of the time. Has anyone else found that depression affects their relationships with people? How do you manage? Any tips/experiences/thoughts?
