Letting Go Of A Toxic Relationship

...See more Letting go of any relationship is difficult. Letting go of a toxic relationship is even more difficult. One never expects to get into a toxic relationship, and when you realize that youre in a toxic relationship, it usually catches you by surprise. The problem is, while we recognize a relationship as toxic, it is still quite difficult to convince ourselves to let go. One of the first things you need to remind yourself when you let go of a toxic relationship is that you are not weak for wanting to let go of the relationship. The signs of a toxic relationship can vary at times. Sometimes theyre clear cut: you might be experiencing emotional and physical abuse, lying, and cheating. However, there may be times when you might not be sure if you are in a toxic relationship, but you do find yourself feeling something off about your whole relationship. This might be characterized by feeling lonely, despite being in a relationship, a feeling of not wanting to see your partner, or the feeling of a lack of intimacy between the both of you. It is difficult to leave a relationship, even a toxic one, because of the fear that one might end up alone and unloved. However, once you have come to terms with the fact that you are in a toxic relationship, and have made the decision to leave, this gives you the strength to change your life with your own two hands for the better. Sometimes being selfish is exactly what you need out of your life, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You cannot keep living with the mentality that if you love your partner enough, they will be willing to change for you. If they were really willing to change themselves, they would have done so a long time ago. If the relationship makes you feel bad, then it might be a bad relationship. Fight for your relationship if its still worth it, but if you find theres no point, then allow yourself to let go. Sometimes our lives are not better by the people we keep in our lives, but by those we choose to let go to improve our lives. Have you ever been in a toxic relationship? What advice can you give about getting over it? Send me a message, or leave a comment below, and well talk about it!

...See more When a new relationship begins, it can be full of fluff and rainbows and all the good things that little boys and little girls dream of, but as time goes on, every relationship will eventually have their own challenges and hurdles that couples need to face together. Ask any happy couple who have lasted fifty years, ten, or even just one year and theyll hint at issues that theyve had to work out together. But how do they do it? How do people make relationships last for decades? To understand that, lets talk about how to stay happy in a long relationship. Lets take a look at some of the most common relationship advice: Communication Is Key Relationships are about mutual understanding. Most problems in relationships can often be avoided by talking to your partner as most problems arise from misunderstandings. Talk to your partner about anything and everything. Having open communication builds trust between you and your partner, and since people can change over the years, keeping your connection with your partner becomes more vital so they can understand any changes going on in your life. Always Trust and Respect Your Partner Lets be real. Love can only get you so far. You cant just rely on love alone to carry you through decades of hardship. Thats why you need to form mutual trust and respect with your partner, because when love fails, youll have something to fall back on. Your relationship wont become a mess and will continue on ‘til youve rediscovered the spark that ignited your love from the start. Try Something New Together There are so many things to do in the world that cant all be done in a single lifetime. Keep your relationship fresh and exciting by trying new things! Dont let your relationship become stale and boring. Bring your partner along with you when theres a new place in town to visit or a new activity to do. Go out of your comfort zone and break away from the usual stuff that you and your partner are used to. Go watch a bad movie and laugh together about how terrible it is. Travel to a different country and experience a different culture together. Heck, try a new position in bed to keep things interesting. Try anything to keep your relationship working. Always Look on the Bright Side of Life Optimism is a great motivator. When you meet dark moments in your relationship, shine some light on it by looking at the upside of whats happening. Its no use trying to intensify an issue as thatll only make it harder for you and your partner. If theres nothing you can do about it, look at it from a different perspective and appreciate the good things that came out of it. Theres always something positive about any situation. You just need to look at a problem from a different angle. Blaming your partner will only make it worse. Even if its their fault, try to make fun of it so itll be easier for them to make it up to you. Likewise, if you were in the wrong, accept responsibility and look forward to the make-up cuddle the both of you will have while watching a random, forgettable movie on Netflix. These are just some of the common tips on how to stay happy in a long relationship. What other things do you do to stay happy in a long relationship?
