small achievements

...See more Hello there! I just wanted to share a small achievement for me here because I don't feel like I can really talk about it with those close to me. Anyways, ever since I started college I have had a hard time going out to get food. I like routine because I know it and there are no surprises, but the dining hall changes a lot, which intimidates me. Because of that I have been eating really poorly, and by poorly I mean I lived off of the snacks in my room only, and when those ran out sometimes I just wouldn't eat in the day - which of course is not good at all. Well, for the last week I've been really pushing myself to go out and get food, and for the past seven days I have been eating two meals a day! It's not as good as three, and sometimes it's only a little bit of food because I don't like something and I don't like having to get up and replace it (makes me really anxious), but I have managed to get myself to go out twice a day, and I'm hoping to keep things up! And I'm proud of myself for doing this, which is also hard to admit, because I feel so silly that I need to be proud of eating, but it took a lot to push past all of my anxiety to do this, and I know if this were someone else telling me they were doing this, I would be proud of them, so why should I be any different? I still have a lot of anxiety about the dining hall, but it gets just a little bit easier each time I go. I don't really know why I wanted to share this but it helps for me to know that progress is achievable, no matter how impossible it may seem. Thanks for reading if you did :)

struggling at school

...See more I am a freshman in college and this is my second semester on campus. I feel so alone here sometimes for several reasons. For one, I don't have a roommate. I didn't find someone on the online portal so I was randomly assigned one, but they ended up not going to my school so I don't have a roommate. I like having the space to myself, but it also gets really lonely by myself, especially when I don't really have other people to talk to. So far I have only made one friend on campus, but she has her own roommates and other friends and that she also spends time with, so I don't get to see her everyday. I feel so alone because I spend all of my time cooped up in my dorm room not having anyone to talk to. And I also struggle to go out to the dining hall everyday, which isn't very good because I know I need to eat, but it's so difficult to work up the nerve to go out there, and the simplest tasks seem impossible because of my anxiety. If I had a roommate then maybe I could go out to eat with them, but I am by myself. I don't even know how to go about making other friends. I don't even really know how I made the one. I just feel like I'm going to be lonely here for the rest of the years I am at school and it makes me sad. My friend says that her roommates are by association my friends, but I only ever met them once or twice. I could go on and on, but I'm not going to right now, so here's this.
