...See more I had a best friend for five years who I grew to love. We were extremely close and she was the first person outside of my family I’ve ever loved. We both struggled with communication, but if there was anyone we could talk to it was each other. I understood her mind better than my own, and I liked the comfort of knowing she would be there if I needed anything. We always did small things that reminded us of our closeness, and we spent hours almost every day together. We fell out recently and I was completely heartbroken. I was crying every day and it lasted for so long. But it feels like I can’t talk about it and no one will understand because she was just a friend. How can I have gone through heartbreak if I have never been in a relationship? I wish people could be as sympathetic to lost platonic love as lost romantic love.
