...See more Hi everyone. I’m new to this app and new to a lot of things happening in my life as of recently. I’m 25 and I was recently diagnosed with bipolar type 2 after experiencing a pretty significant hypomanic episode, which was followed by the most intense depression I have ever experienced. I was already on the books to meet with a new therapist and treatment team (appointments made when I was experiencing my elevated mood) to address my struggles with an eating disorder and severe panic attacks. My family members noticed my behavior during my hypomanic episode and while in my depressive mood I did a lot of googling (warning! not good for anxiety) and saw myself in many of the symptoms of bipolar type 2. I was diagnosed in 2015 with depression, PTSD, and anxiety. I believe I was misdiagnosed, which I hear is common. I never took any medication prior to two weeks ago. I started meds for the first time and at first, I was skeptical. I never wanted to take meds when I was first prescribed antidepressants, I always thought I should be able to do it on my own. My mood cycles have been so exhausting and depression so deep that I have decided I can’t middle through on my own anymore. So far I am feeling a lot of love and support from my partner, family, and friends. I am so grateful for that. However, I get paranoid when I talk to them sometimes because I’ve convinced myself that they all talk about me and call me crazy behind my back, and they will send me away. I don’t always think that’s true but when I do it’s quite frightening and makes it harder to talk to them about some of the “not so appealing” symptoms I’m experiencing. That’s why I’m here — I want to talk to people who get it and can help me navigate this new journey I seem to be on.
