Relationship Stress / by celestialwhite

...See more Of course. Here’s a more structured version of your thoughts, keeping all the important details: So, I met a guy on a dating app, and things started off really well between us. We went on a couple of dates, and we genuinely liked each other. We did get physically intimate to a certain extent, but after that, I told him that I’m not someone who can engage in physical intimacy without a real commitment. He told me that, for him, it was just a bit too early to commit physically, and he wanted to get to know me better first—as friends—before we took any serious step. There was no commitment yet, but he assured me that if I wasn’t comfortable with being physically intimate, he would be okay with just staying friends—hanging out, getting to know each other—and then, if we felt it, we could build something more. However, a couple of days later, he told me that he had made out with another girl—someone he didn’t have feelings for, just a random hookup. He said he wanted to be fully transparent, and I really do appreciate his honesty. But it left me feeling really confused. What I mean is, it’s not that I’m angry he hooked up, but if he was physically interested in someone else, it kind of made me feel like he wasn’t as committed to me. I told him that, and he admitted he wasn’t sure he could give physical exclusivity until he was really certain we were fully dating. He said he could avoid being physical with me for now, but he also wants to keep his options open until he knows how he feels. He gave me a timeline of about two weeks. He said if we both like each other in that time, he’ll fully commit—emotionally and physically exclusive. Until then, he wants to keep things open, be transparent, and see how it unfolds. So, right now, we’re still spending time together. I really enjoy his company. He’s sweet, romantic, and makes me feel really safe and comfortable, but I’m just left wondering how I should handle this. I don’t want to rush or settle, but at the same time, I do really care about how he’s making me feel. I just needed to get all this out, and I’m not sure what to do next.

...See more . I met a guy through a dating app, and we’ve been seeing each other for about 1–1.5 weeks. We’ve gone on a couple of dates and have been actively pursuing each other, but we haven’t had any conversation around commitment or exclusivity yet. After we got a little physically intimate, I told him that I’m not really a hookup person and that I generally prefer to take things more seriously when I’m involved with someone. In response, he said that emotional commitment takes time for him and that he wants to know me better as a person before getting there. A few days later, he told me that he had made out with another girl. He clarified that it was purely physical and that he didn’t feel any emotional connection with her. While I appreciate that he was honest about it, I still find the situation unsettling. I personally struggle to understand how someone can actively pursue one person while also being physically involved with someone else at the same time. We are still talking and continuing to see each other, but the whole situation makes me feel confused and somewhat foolish. Part of me wonders if I should value his honesty and give things time, while another part of me feels like this may already be too messy for what I’m looking for emotionally. He has reassured me that once he commits to someone, there won’t be any third person involved. I’m just unsure whether I should continue seeing where this goes or walk away before I get more emotionally invested.
