Need some advice
. I met a guy through a dating app, and we’ve been seeing each other for about 1–1.5 weeks. We’ve gone on a couple of dates and have been actively pursuing each other, but we haven’t had any conversation around commitment or exclusivity yet.
After we got a little physically intimate, I told him that I’m not really a hookup person and that I generally prefer to take things more seriously when I’m involved with someone. In response, he said that emotional commitment takes time for him and that he wants to know me better as a person before getting there.
A few days later, he told me that he had made out with another girl. He clarified that it was purely physical and that he didn’t feel any emotional connection with her. While I appreciate that he was honest about it, I still find the situation unsettling. I personally struggle to understand how someone can actively pursue one person while also being physically involved with someone else at the same time.
We are still talking and continuing to see each other, but the whole situation makes me feel confused and somewhat foolish. Part of me wonders if I should value his honesty and give things time, while another part of me feels like this may already be too messy for what I’m looking for emotionally.
He has reassured me that once he commits to someone, there won’t be any third person involved. I’m just unsure whether I should continue seeing where this goes or walk away before I get more emotionally invested.
Hi @celestialwhite.
His behavior while honest it sends up a lot of red flags...
His behavior is also not very romantic or charming..
But at least he's honest...
Good luck making the right ✅️ decision...🌟
@celestialwhite
You’re not foolish for feeling uncomfortable. It sounds like you and him may just have different approaches to dating right now. He was honest, which is good, but honesty does not automatically make the situation feel okay for you emotionally.
You do not have to force yourself to be comfortable with something that goes against your values. Since it’s still early, you could keep getting to know him while paying attention to whether his actions start matching what you want long term. But if this is already making you anxious or confused, that feeling matters too.
@celestialwhite It depends on your standards. How did you feel about his honesty? I hope this is honest too.
