Lack of persistency in relationships with friends

...See more I have always been a jolly and charismatic person, I am a people person and people love me. I have never found difficult to make friends (apart from high school, where it was a nightmare to be different), but now I am 47 and I feel like my social life has drifted away. Adults have a scheduled life and they need to keep in touch with their friends on a regular basis, text them, call them, organise social events, all things that I find extremely difficult to do. I have just now realised that most of my social life was scheduled by very close friends who would organised everything for me. Now that I have closed contacts with these couple of friends I just seem to find impossible to find parties, dinner nights etc. and I spend more and more time alone in front of my computer and my obsessive mind. Not to mention my love life, a real disaster... Despite being pretty attractive and charming to the guys (I'm gay), I am basically unable to date someone. Even a month is becoming an unachievable goal for very complex reasons to explain. Anybody who has the same difficulty in maintaining stable social contacts?
