Hi! I'm Laurel. I am figuring out being a mom while having inattentive-type ADHD. I enjoy supporting others who are just now figuring out how to function as an adult with ADHD, especially by sharing what has worked for me, and I appreciate learning from many people on this site.

I am also a Christian. I try to keep Jesus at the center of my life, but I am so easily distracted! Thankfully He is faithful to complete the work He started in me. I'm interested in learning how other Christians with ADHD live out their faith.

And I am really interested in just learning more about how to function with executive functioning challenges and occasional emotional dysregulation!

Any guitar players on here?

...See more Hi! I'm Laurel. I have ADHD and even though I like playing guitar, I only play when I'm in the mood and if I have something fun and easy to play. I don't know what to play right now. Any suggestions? I crave novelty, so I kind of get bored easily. I like to strum chords. I really like embellished chords, and I don't like/can't play bar chords. I'm open to fingerstyle if it's fairly simple.

...See more I live an hour away from civilization. I'm alone with my toddler almost all day every day. When I'm too tired to do anything besides grow another person, my toddler thinks that's the best time to push my buttons. I can't regulate my mood when I'm that tired, and I react too strongly to him. What am I supposed to do?

...See more Hi! What are your favorite tips and tricks you've learned while raising a toddler? Mine is to make potty training super exciting! I recently started doing an enthusiastic countdown for my son to indicate it's time to go potty, and after "ONE!" I say, IT'S SUPER L-----!!!" and then I carry him in the Superman position into the bathroom. He loves it! And it makes potty training so much easier than when I used a neutral voice to say, "Time to go potty." He used to protest potty time, but now he doesn't!

Tips for a rich, ADHD friendly diet?

...See more I think I have an imbalanced diet. I don't like to think too much about what I'm going to eat. I want my diet to be intuitive and convenient. I'm not eating a lot of junk, but I barely eat any fruits and veggies. I don't have much cooking experience. Which veggies or other nutrient rich foods do you recommend? Again, I need convenience. I'd like to avoid having to wash a lot of pots and pans. Are there any one-pot meals you love to make that don't require a lot of prep? I like the idea of just throwing ingredients together without having to cut anything.

Just pregnancy thoughts

...See more Just going to share the thoughts that are running around in my head.... I know I'm pregnant, but is there really a living, blueberry-sized baby in there? Is it normal that my nausea is more manageable this week than last week? Will this baby make it? Can I have the ultrasound today instead of on Monday? I think I've waited long enough. Can it be Monday the 11th already???

Tidy With Me!

...See more Hi! Laurel here. After 3 weeks of feeling bleh, my house had become a disaster zone. Today I had a burst of energy and did some tidying! I don't know how you're doing on time and energy, so feel free to adapt the following so it works for you. If you have a time constraint or feel unmotivated, set a timer and go as fast as you can. * Grab a trash bag * Pick one room, focus on one section at a time * Pick up all items from one category and put them away (example: books) * Repeat with other categories until that section is tidy. (Ex.: toys, trash, clothes) * Move on to the next section and repeat, if you have the time and energy. Throw all trash in the trash bag and then take it out. Let me know how it goes!

...See more Challenge #3 * Turn on some uplifting music. * From where you are sitting or standing, scan your area until your eyes rest on one pile of clutter * Pick up each item and sort into 2 piles: "Keep" and "toss." * Toss out the unwanted items, or make a firm plan to donate them. * Quickly find homes for the items in the "keep" pile. You have until the end of 3 songs to get it done! 5 songs if it's a big, difficult pile.
