...See more Hello everyone, hope ya'll are having (If not great) a fine day. So I belong a humble Pakistani family and most people consider the father as the sole provider in our culture. But my father, don't even get me started on it. He provides, but he has this really bad habit of looking for shortcuts instead of finding the solution to a problem.. In case of any occasion, he doesn't have the sense to plan ahead and be ready to spend. I'm 21 F, and I pay my own college fee, even half of my sister's school fee. Education is the basic need of a child, which he never fulfilled for me. But he's atleast doing it for my sister now. I work at an International software company (whilst also studying), I have big plans for future and I really want to migrate to another country. For all this you need a lot of money. I'm already saving up for the future. I don't want to ruin myself or my sister by having nothing on my hand. He expects me to invest in his business plan. Which I don't want to do. This comes out of his mouth sometimes in frustration as a poison that's slowly consuming me. It's my personal stability that's at stake, which I just can't let go. How many of you been through the same situation? Do you guys have any valuable advice for me to cope?

...See more For anyone reading this, I apologize in advance for the long post ahead. So a couple of years back, I was in high school. I had high hopes for my career, I was living my life, studying, hobbies, and even had some friends, then my life just took a turn and for some inevitable reasons I couldn't get into the medical school I spent half my life preparing for. I was devastated, as though I've completely lost any chance at life. That was the first time I ever faced failure. It was very hard to pull myself back together after that. But I did manage to do that. While I was in the process of recovering from this, one thing led to another and I ended up in IT. I landed my first job after some serious skill building and ever since then I'm constantly working. Even got admission in college to pursue a degree in Computer science. At this point I'm able to pay my college fee on my own. Now for anyone reading this, it might seem like I'm finally on track and have got it all figured out, and I can't deny that. If anyone sees me from a distance, they might think I'm far more successful and accomplished in life than anyone else my age. And so it is. But there's a gap, a void that nothing can fill. It seems like the light at the end of the tunnel has vanished. Often times, I find myself questioning "What's my true purpose in life?", "Why am I even alive?". I can't find the answers to these questions. I've lost all interest in everything. And it's been like that for the last couple of years. On my first job, I met someone who made my life at least a bit bearable. Through them I could feel like I was somehow alive. I could see hope, I was happy even if for a little while. I had someone to look forward to. Then last year that person also left me for good. Now that the feeling has returned, I saw this platform as a source of vent. I just wanted to put all this out there somewhere. To get it off my chest. Also to learn through your experience and find solace in advices from people who've been here before me. Who've felt the same before me. If any of you can help me out in this situation, I'm looking forward to your responses in the thread. Any advice, any coping strategy will go a long way. And lastly, thank you for reading till the end.
