...See more Recently, I got into an argument with my mother. At some point, my mental illness came up and she said that I “don’t have a mental illness” even though she was literally there when I was diagnosed and that she’s “not equipped to take care of someone with a mental illness.” I get where she’s coming from, I really do. It’s not easy trying to help people you love who suffer from mental illnesses. At the same time, however, I had to put up with her projecting her trauma and illnesses onto me for years and her only justification for it was “she has issues.” It just really hurt to hear that from her. It makes me feel like I’m a burden and only reaffirms my fears and doubts about people wanting me around.

...See more I know that the people around me do love and care for me, but sometimes it’s so hard to believe because of my anxiety. I sometimes feel like no one actually wants me around, that my family is disappointed with me, etc. I’m trying to work on having a better mindset. It’s just hard.
