...See more I wear it like armor, a curve of lips, a flash of teeth— the performance of happiness. They see the smile, bright, easy, unbroken. They never see the trembling in the silence behind it, the storm that claws at the edges of my ribs. Every laugh I give is stitched together with threads of pain I dare not unravel. If they saw the truth— the cracks, the weight— would they stay? Or would they run? So I hide it. Because it’s easier to be “fine” than to be a burden. And yet, when the mask slips in the quiet of my own room, the tears remind me how much it costs to smile so beautifully while breaking so completely.

...See more I stand before the mirror, eyes so wide, A reflection I wish I could hide. Doubt whispers softly in my ear, Telling me I’m never enough, never clear. My heart beats fast with every word I speak, Fearing the silence, fearing the leaks. The cracks in my soul that no one can see, They whisper of flaws that only I believe. I search for answers, for signs that I’m whole, But deep inside, there’s a void in my soul. I ask for validation, hoping for peace, But the answers I seek seem never to cease. In the crowd, I feel unseen, Like a shadow that’s lost, but never too keen. My worth feels like a question, a constant fight, In the silence, I wonder if I’m wrong or right. Yet behind all the doubt, there’s a light that glows, A beauty within that only I know. I’m learning to see through the fog and the fear, To embrace my worth, even when it’s unclear.
