Bio

If you're reading my bio, this is your sign to send me a message! Say hi, introduce yourself, I don't bite, I promise. :)

Whether you're looking for someone to vent to, need support through something difficult, or just don't want to fee alone, I am here to listen. My goal is to make you feel heard, understood, and supported with empathy, compassion and absolutely NO judgement.

I have been through many of my own struggles with mental health, so while I may not know exactly what you are experiencing, chances are I have been through something similar. I understand how hard it can be to reach out, and I am really glad you're here! :)

The topics I have the most experience supporting are:
-eating disorders
-self-harm
-anxiety
-depression
-general mental health
-school, family, and life stress

That said, you're welcome to message me about almost anything. If I am not the best person for your situation, I'll do my best to point you to someone who is.

A little bit about me:
I am 16 and currently in highschool.
When I am not on Cups, you will probably find me
-reading a book
-writing poetry
-listening to music
-or in the kitchen eating or baking something sweet

My listener name is Insightful Eyes because I have always been someone who notices patterns and sees things that others often miss. Sometimes when we are struggling, it is hard to see the bigger picture ourselves. I hope I can help you discover some of those things!

My listening style:
I am a very empathetic person, but I am also thoughtful and reflective. I don't just listen, I try to understand what is beneath the surface and kindly point out the patterns or perspectives you might have missed.

My goal is for our chats to feel comfortable, relaxed, and genuine, almost like talking to a friend. At the same time, its important to remember that I am a listener not a friend. Our conversations are about you and how I can best support you, and I want to create a safe space where you can focus on yourself.

Whether you need to vent, process your thoughts, or have someone to talk to so you're not alone, I am here for you.

Boundaries:
I welcome chats about almost anything, but there are a few situations I will not take
-sexual chats or roleplay
-active crisis situations or if you are currently self-harming (I can help connect you to resources if needed)
-topics that make me feel uncomfortable (I will let you know if necessary)

My status light:
Green: I am online, come say hi and I will reply fairly quickly
Yellow: I am either supporting someone else or active around the community. Feel free to message me anyway, it may just take longer for me to respond.
Red: I am offline, but you can always leave me a message and I will get back to you within 48 hours

If you've made it to the bottom, you might as well send me a message, even just to say hi.

I am really glad you're here, and I'd love the chance to support you if I can. And if it turns out I'm not the best fit, thats okay too, I can help find someone who is.

September 2nd
...See more September, The first day of school, A new teacher, A new classroom, New students Who will learn to hate me. September Bleeds into October, and I turn 17. But I am not just 17, I am 13, And 10, And 7. Each version of me Is alive, and crawling through the cracks Etched on my skin. And October Bleeds into November, Lest we forget, Pin a poppy on your jacket, And call it good enough. Next is Christmas, Which feels like Halloween Because I am haunted. By the past, By all of the versions of me, And the ones That never got to be. Happy New Year! New year, new me, A line everyone says, But rarely sticks to. For me, The only lines are hidden, Under my sticky sleeves, That bleed into February, The second month of the year. Happy Groundhog Day! Will I feel the sun On my skin, Or will this deep dark pit Of depression Bloom into summer? Left, right, Left, right, Marching straight into April Oh look, There's the easter bunny! Lets forget about Jesus’ death And eat too much chocolate. Happy Mothers Day To all the little girls Who raised themselves. MAY you be doing better Than I. And all of a sudden, September turned into June. School is out, And I have 2 months To watch myself bleed, As the clock turns Back to September And we start again.

Lets Eat Together!
Eating Disorder Support / by insightfulEyes3026
Last post
May 13th
...See more Lets eat together today!  if you are doing something right now, come back to this post when you can!  I know it is hard, so go grab something small,  Maybe its a granola bar, toast, fruit, crackers, yogurt, a muffin, pasta, soup, a dry handful of cereal, literally anything that sounds okay right now.  I just wanted to say that your body deserves food EVERY DAY, and not just when you feel you deserve it. Before I say anything else, I want you to know that I know how hard it is, and its not as simple as "just eating something." I have spent years of my life struggling with an eating disorder, and I know how consuming it can become. I know what it feels like to overthink every bite, the guilt, the voice telling you not to eat, your mind being a war with yourself. I get it.  Food can be so scary,  recovery is hard,  but what is really scary is never recovering,  so do the hard thing,  for your FUTURE! Anorexia is a DISORDER,  not a friend,  not a personality,  not a tik-tok trend,  not something you want.  It steals so much,  your energy,  your focus,  your relationships,  your happines,  your personality,  all for what?  to live in a body you don't even like?  Lets take one step in taking our lives back today,  you don't need to recover all at once,  its baby steps  You don't need to suddenly wake up one morning and love yourself,  you don't need to stop being scared right now.  Right now, the goal is just to eat something.  thats it.  I know its scary, but you've got this, we'll do it together! Take a deep breath,  relax your shoulders,  unclench your jaw,  put on a comfort show, or maybe some calming music,  it somewhere safe and cozy.  And take one bite.  The first one is always the hardest, but I promise you, it is so worth it.  Remind yourself  "one bite will not make my gain weight," It is literally physically impossible.  Then take another bite, and remind yourself again.  Your eating disorder will argue with you, tell you to stop. It might make you panic or overthink or compensate afterwards. But those are feelings, not facts, and you don't have to obey it! Food is not something you need to earn, you do not need to be "sick enough" to recover.  Please eat today!  and when you do, comment something you ate! :) Anything counts,  a piece of toast,  a smoothie,  an egg,  coffee with cream,  snacks,  a dry handful of cereal (my personal go to)! Then come back tomorrow, and comment again.  and the next day.  and the next.  Lets make this thread a safe space to encourage eachother, and all recover together! Before I end this, I just want to remind you  that your body is not the most important thing about you, not your weight, your size, the number on the scale. You are a whole person, with thoughts, memories, talents, favourite songs, dreams, humor, and people who care about you.  There IS life outside of this disorder.  You DESERVE life.  I know recovery is terrifying, but staying trapped forever is terrifying too. So today, just focus on right now.  Now go eat something,  I'll do it with you! I'm proud of you :)

Summer and Self Harm
Self-Harm Recovery / by insightfulEyes3026
Last post
May 13th
...See more Self Harm is something that so many people struggle with, especially teens. Millions of people have dealt with it, and at affects both boys and girls. Even though so many people have had an experience with it, a lot of people suffer in silence because of shame, fear, fear of being misunderstood, and stigma around mental health.  When people hear self-harm, their first thoughts are about cutting, but it can also include: -burning -skin picking -hair pulling -cheek biting -hitting yourself -scratching -and many more No matter the form, your struggle IS VALID.  if it left scars, it's valid.  if it didn't leave scars, it's valid.  if someone else "had it worse," its still valid.  IT. IS. VALID.  The point of this post was to talk about self-harm and summer.  Summer is coming up, and for many people it brings up the question "Now what?" Shorts, swimsuits, Tshirts, Tank Tops, hot weather.  "How do I hide it?" "what if people see it?" "what if they ask questions?" First, I just want to say that you do not need to feel ashamed of your scars, wounds, or struggles, they DO NOT mean that you are weak or attention seeking. However, I also get that you may not be ready to show them or talk about it yet.  I do not encourage hiding self harm and struggling alone, reaching out can be really helpful. But if you want to feel more comfortable this summer, here are some ideas:  -lightweight or thin long sleeve tops -Oversized tees -thin zip ups or cardigans -long dresses -skirts -tall socks -bracelets -skin colored tights -concealer -cute leg warmers -arm sleeves -mesh or crochet coverups -temporary tatoos or drawing or henna.  if you have any other ideas, please feel free to comment and share :) Some coping mechanisms that can help with urges:  -DISTRACTION: distraction, distraction, distraction! At the first feeling of an urge, do something. Color, play a game, clean your room, listen to music, get a drink, scroll, go outside, watch a show, literally anything to interrupt the urge.  -The TIP method: Temperature, Intense Exercise, Paced Breathing. Have a hot shower, a cold shower, touch ice, wash your face with cold water. Do 100 jumping jacks, running on the spot, burpees, anything active. Paced breathing is counting while taking deep breaths! I like box breathing, in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, out for 4 seconds, and hold for 4 seconds.  -Reach out to someone. A friend, a family member, a trusted adult, or even a listener on Cups! -Journaling can help. Sometimes I write all my thoughts on paper and then rip it up or burn the paper, watching my emotions leave through the page rather than hurting myself. You can also send yourself voice notes of venting.  -Make a list of reasons to stop. Keep it on your phone, or journal, or on the wall! Read it constantly, and on hard days remind yourself WHY you want to heal, even though it is hard.  Recovery is not linear, and relapses happen. They don't reset your progress, what matters is that you keep trying!  If anyone has any questions self-harm related, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message! :)

Salted Caramel Cookies!!
Hobby Zone / by insightfulEyes3026
Last post
May 13th
...See more Hey lovely people! :) Today I made these salted caramel cookies, and they were so amazing, so I thought I would share the recipe! If you don't have caramel sauce, you can make it by melting butter, adding brown sugar and a bit of milk or cream! I don't know the measurements because I always guess, but I'm sure google has an answer! I would say these make my top 5 cookies, first being cakies (a combination of a cake and cookie), snickerdoodles, chocolate chip and peanut butter (I absolutely ADORE peanut butter!), white chocolate chip and macadamia nut, and of course, salted caramel! What is your favourite type of cookies?  Recipe from:  https://www.modernhoney.com/salted-caramel-cookies/

Mother's Day Isn't Happy For Everyone
Trauma Support / by insightfulEyes3026
Last post
May 15th
...See more Today is Mothers Day, and for a lot of people, it is not a happy day, but one that is very painful. I am making this post that is vulnerable and putting myself out there, because I want you all to know you are not alone if you are going through something similar.  Everywhere you look, people are posting flowers, gifts, long paragraphs about how much they love their mom, and how she is their best friend. And if you have that, I am so happy for you, everyone deserves a loving mother.  But some of us did not get that. And I just wanted to share this, so that you know to be gentle on those who do not have a loving relationship with their moms.  Some of us, we grew up with mothers who were toxic, emotionally unavalable, manipulative, neglectful, controlling, abusive, unsafe, or so many other things.  Some of us grew up feeling scared and alone rather than loved. Some of us spent our childhood walking on egg shells, trying to predict moods, trying to keep the peace, trying to be a "good enough" child.  Just because we got food, clothes, and a house, does not mean that we got emotional (or physical) safety. And that is something a lot of people don't understand. Having a bad relationship with your mom messes with you in many ways, Including self worth,  anxiety,  your ability to trust people,  relationships,  boundaries,  identity,  the way you talk to yourself,  your mental health,  and literally everything.  Your mother is supposed to be one of the first people who teaches you what love feels like, so when she is your first bully, it changes you. And then when Mother's Day comes around, everyone expects you to celebrate someone who hurt you.  It can be confusing too.  because maybe you love your mom, but are still hurt by her.  Maybe you miss her, but don't feel safe around her.  maybe you feel guilty for being angry, or angry about being guilty.  For me, the hardest part is hoping I will wake up one day and have the mother I needed. The hardest part of Mother's Day, is grieving a person who is still alive. And for some people, that grief is because they made the decision to go no contact. And that is not an easy decision. People act like cutting off a parent happens over one argument or one bad day. But what they don't see is the years of hurt, disappointment, fear, and trying over and over to fix the thing that is breaking you.  Sometimes distance is the only way a person can finally breathe. And even if it was the right (and healthy!) decision, it can still hurt deeply. You can miss someone while knowing they are not good for you. You can love someone and still need distance from them. Choosing peace does not make you cruel, protecting yourself from them does not make you selfish.  Days like today can feel so isolating, so I am making this post to let you know that you are not alone.  And if you are one of those people,  where mothers day is hard for you, here are a few reminders:  -You do not need to celebrate someone who hurt you.  -It is okay to have mixed feelings -You are allowed to have big emotions -Take care of yourself, make sure to eat something, drink water, and try to stay off of social media if it is triggering.  To anyone reading this who feels alone,  Please know you are not the only one struggling on Mother's Day.  There are so many people posting smiling pictures with their mother while in private they are falling apart. You do not need to compare your life with what you see on social media. Remember, IT. IS. A. LIE!

Rainbow Magic Fairies!
Newbie Hub / by insightfulEyes3026
Last post
April 22nd
...See more Hey everyone! :) Most of you know me as Insightful Eyes, or Eyes, but if we have not yet met, feel free to introduce yourself in the comments, or send me a message!  Anyways, I decided to have a little fun and see what my Listener name would look like if I were a character in the Rainbow Magic book series by Daisy Meadows. I was obsessed with those books as a kid! I used ChatGPT to generate this photo for me. Shes got all my essentials, her 7-Cups wand, her earbuds for listening to you (and of course my favourite music), and her phone to stay connected to all of you! If anyone else wants to "fairy-ify" their username for fun, here is the prompt I used:  "Generate an image of "Eyes, the insightfulness fairy" who is from the "listener fairies" group. generate the photo like the Rainbow Magic Fairies books cover. Make the fairy look like this (attatched photo). Make her be holding her wand in one hand, with little sparkles and logos of the 7-Cups online platform and app for mental health, like they do on the book cover. Make her magical charms be her phone (with the 7-cups logo), her earbuds, and a cute waterbottle" Where it says "(attatched photo)" is where I sent a picture of what I looked like as well, just so the fairy looked similar to me. You can change your name and items that you would like to have! As well as you can change the listener to say member as well! I'd love to see the rest of the fairy squad, comment your picture if you would like! :)  If you would not like to make a picture or share it, if you were a fairy, what would your 3 magical charms be? Mine are my phone, my ear buds, and my waterbottle, because I never leave the house without them!
