Back to September
September,
The first day of school,
A new teacher,
A new classroom,
New students
Who will learn to hate me.
September
Bleeds into October,
and I turn 17.
But I am not just 17,
I am 13,
And 10,
And 7.
Each version of me
Is alive,
and crawling through the cracks
Etched on my skin.
And October
Bleeds into November,
Lest we forget,
Pin a poppy on your jacket,
And call it good enough.
Next is Christmas,
Which feels like Halloween
Because I am haunted.
By the past,
By all of the versions of me,
And the ones
That never got to be.
Happy New Year!
New year, new me,
A line everyone says,
But rarely sticks to.
For me,
The only lines are hidden,
Under my sticky sleeves,
That bleed into February,
The second month of the year.
Happy Groundhog Day!
Will I feel the sun
On my skin,
Or will this deep dark pit
Of depression
Bloom into summer?
Left, right,
Left, right,
Marching straight into
April
Oh look,
There's the easter bunny!
Lets forget about Jesus’ death
And eat too much chocolate.
Happy Mothers Day
To all the little girls
Who raised themselves.
MAY you be doing better
Than I.
And all of a sudden,
September turned into June.
School is out,
And I have 2 months
To watch myself bleed,
As the clock turns
Back to September
And we start again.

I used to love going back to school. The first week was nerve racking, but seeing what people got upto while on holiday was fun. I had alot of friends back then.
I hope you enjoy your time at school. Study hard.

September
September
oh lovely September
A birthday
A dead day
A bright and warm day
A somber and cool day
Perhaps oh one day
Perhaps maybe this day
September could come
September could wait
But could it change
Or should it even
Maybe me not it
Perhaps
Once upon a September

Really loved your poem, sorta got my flair going, hope you don't mind my poetic response.
Truly loved the emotion and the flow of time in your poem, it felt so grounded and real in the fact that it wasn't stuck in my moment like most of my work.
Thank you so much for sharing 🩵

I don't mind at all! I love seeing other people write poetry! Especially when I know my work inspires others, as other people have inspired me to write. I'm really glad it helped you feel more grounded, writing is my safe space and how I process my emotions. Reading AND writing is really such a way to get intune with your emotions and be grounded in the present. Love your poem btw 💗

Words that flow
Wind in a breeze
Wonder and kindness
Who sparks inspiration
Whatever life brings
We may all be alike
Wherever we go
We'll always know
We care
I love how you responded with a poem so I did the same to you!! You both are so inspiring and are wonderful writers. I hope y'all find great joy soon, y'all matter 🫶.
