Handling depressive episodes

...See more I, myself, am not depressed but I am seeking advice on how I can make my partner who experiences depression feel more comfortable to talk about it with me. It bothers me that we’ve been together almost 2 years and hes still not comfortable talking about it. Truth be told, Its my first serious relationship dating someone who has depression so its all new to me. I feel bad when I dont really know what to do or how to help him, which makes him want to close himself off. How can I handle this? Any advice? We also just started doing long distance so now its going to be even more tedious.

...See more I am currently in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend. However, the spark has been missing for a while :(. My boyfriend says I am someone who is rather quiet and doesnt speak up as often. This is how he fell in love with me but he has revealed to me that he loves me but he doesnt want to go crazy long term wondering if I will ever speak up about something to him or just suffer in silence. How can I be more assertive in the relationship?
