ending a bad relationship

...See more Today was the day I finally decided to leave an abusive relationship. I have bruises on my arms and some on my leg. But what hurts the most isn’t the physical pain ( I know the bruises will heal) but more of the mental damage that's been done to me.     MY Ex boyfriend would call me “fat” or “Stupid” or any variations. I cried during work today thinking that some of the things he said was true, I know im not “Fat” and i'm certainly not “stupid”.    I feel strained now because he was the only person I had been going out with/ hanging out for the last 2 months or so, we would see each other every day and I feel like I had to not only let go of my boyfriend (for my own sake) but my best friend as well.         I just couldn’t take the abuse anymore. He was arrested today for something stupid so I haven’t had a decent chance to drop the bomb and tell him the news that I never want to see him again.     But on the other hand I don’t actually want to let him go. I’m stressed out and strained. I was soo attached to him but I need to do whats best for me, did I do the right thing or should I have tried harder somehow to keep this relationship together.  Also what would be the best way to let him know it's over for good?
