...See more I’m new to the group and am glad to have found this safe space. This week has been a much better one for me. I have been married for 33 years, when I met my husband it was at a half way house, I was sent there after I got done with my 30 day treatment program and he was there for treatment. We both started out working a program of sobriety, utilizing the 12 steps program, had sponsors…etc. After several years of sobriety, foolishly, we both thought we could drink again. We ended up having a child and I stopped and didn’t want to let that interfere with parenting. Fast forward 30 plus years, many ups and downs, my husband still struggles with drinking and drugs and so does our grown child. There are days that I just can’t live with the manipulation and lies that living with an addict does. We go through days/weeks of down, dark times that I know it’s time for me to take a stand for my mental health and then it’s like he senses this and gets it together and cools it. I hate the disease of addiction! I takes good, kind, loving people and wreaks havoc. I’m grateful for to have an outlet like this, cause I know today may be a good day but it probably won’t last.
