...See more I’m new here. I’m desperate. 9 years together, 5 years married. We have one toddler together and that’s all. Things started to get really bad once we had our baby girl in 2019. He’s told me bad things and I’ve felt pretty shitty because of it until I started to learn what verbal abuse is, manipulation and gaslighting. Every time i reach out to him with a concern of something he said hurt me, he denies and denies until it becomes a huge argument and I end up crying and feeling worse than at the beginning. He is perfectionist, very controlling and manipulative. He plays victim, and lacks emotional intelligence. He can’t empathize! We’ve had 7 months of marriage counseling and it has done NOTHING! My mind goes in ups and downs, I’m starting to feel helpless. I’m far away from my family and friends. If I leave I have to move to my family but they have their own divorce and needy drama, and I’ll struggle financially. Not sure which life is harder and which to choose. Will my daughter be better off with her dad far away? They love each other. Will my daughter hate my if I leave him 10 years instead of now? I’m a mess, I’m devastated. I want this family to work, I want my house, I wanted one more baby. I’m 33 not so young to wait for another relationship and start all over with babies. My parents are very religious and I’m the complete opposite and don’t want to go back to that religious environment again. Idk what to do!!! Our local marriage counselor just goes in circles and doesn’t spot the red flags of abuse. And he’s really good at making his case and switching topics so she gets shifted to some other problem instead of addressing his manipulation, etc. It’s devastating to see it isn’t working.
