...See more I’m bi/pan female and I’ve been with my boyfriend (cis/het)for 10 years. Yes, it’s another one of those “I think I need to break up with my boyfriend but I love him” posts. I’ve been trying to be patient and understand while he deconstructs what he’s been taught by his MAGA family. I didn’t know he didn't vote in elections until 6ish years ago. However, he didn’t vote in this election either. And when I told him I was heartbroken when I recently learned his family were Trump supporters, he said, “Over a difference in political opinions?” I was shocked. I think I’m done being patient with waiting for him to deconstruct things. If he still thinks the current election was just about a difference in political beliefs, I am not sure he actually cares enough to actually do the work, and hasn’t really been doing the work. I‘m scared that I’m being impulsive (a common trait of mine) so I am definitely going to not act on this right now. But I also can’t just pretend everything is okay. I am scared to end a relationship that’s been going on for so long. And I do still love him even though I feel betrayed and as if he had slapped me in the face. And goodness, I know this isn’t a good reason to stay with someone, but I can’t afford to live on my own and don’t know what to do about the living situation until I can find a roommate.
