Weird Emotions Throughout the Day
Depression Support / by quietPenguin6743

...See more Hello guys!  I was wondering and wanted to share what I've been experiencing over the last few days. So I have been struggling with deep depression for about 3.5 weeks now, and recently got put on an SSRI (today is my fifth day on it). I know that these products take weeks to take effect; however, I have noticed changes in my mood. For example, yesterday I was super low in the morning, then content, then super happy, then content. Then today, I felt super numb/hypermotional, happy, super happy, then numb/gloomy right now (but not nearly as low or heavy). Before this, I went through cycles of deep, deep lows to numbness. Obviously not wanting medical advice, but rather some experiences and guidance. Could I be healing? Is this temporary (I was happy a few days a week and a half ago, then became depressed again)? Is it all a placebo? I know everyone’s experiences are different, and I have never had a severe episode before. I was hoping for some advice on what I should do moving forward, and to hear what recovery may look like for a bit of hope. I am also just super anxious as I struggle with health anxiety and do not want to feel like a zombie coming out of this (med-induced or not). Should this emptiness/numbness fade? Thank you for any perspective or advice!

...See more Hello,  I'm thrilled to meet you all! I am a 20-year-old (almost 21-year-old) girl struggling with a severe mental slump right now. It all started a few weeks ago when I had a significant life disruption involving my partner (I struggle with anxious attachment); however, I feel this incident has unveiled a deeper issue (lack of love for myself, low independence, and feeling like I do not know who I am). I am struggling with terrible depression right now and am excited to get support from others who understand what it is like and to help take back my life. It has been highly challenging lately, as I keep slipping into negative mindsets and getting upset when progress doesn't seem to be made. I try to connect with others (my boyfriend and family), but I feel isolated as I live alone and don't feel they can fully relate or understand. I look forward to starting my healing journey and connecting with all of you!
