Dating is hard why?

...See more I have been single for a couple years now and am surrounded my married friends or seriously dating people. I am online and go out to meet people but more often I find myself meeting someone and not a match or I get ghosted. recently I went out with a guy and we had a nice time and exchanged messages after. He was not great at messaging but when he went home for the holiday he was texting and calling me a lot more and now that he’s out of town for work he is kind of being unresponsive again but will text once to mine or something. He said it’s a crazy stressful week and I did text saying hope his week is okay and to let me know if he would want to meet up when he’s back in town. I just feel this happens a lot it goes well and than just like that I hit a wall. I texted him while drinking but didn’t say anything dumb but maybe why? this just happens so much am I dating the wrong people or what am I doing wrong?
